Erskine seeks road win over Mount Olive Saturday afternoon

Due West, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet can take an important step toward securing home-court advantage in the opening round of the conference tournament with a win tomorrow afternoon at the University of Mount Olive.

Erskine (12-8, 6-5) currently trails Mount Olive (13-8, 7-4) by a game in the standings for fourth place and the right to host in the opening round.  With a win, the Fleet would not only move into a tie with UMO, but also own the tie-breaker.

The last time these two teams played back on January 15th, Erskine won the contest at home 77 to 64. Sophomore Roderick Perkins (Smyrna, GA, Campbell High School) poured in a game-high 35 points while freshman Maurice Daniels, Jr. (Spartanburg, SC, Dorman High School) came off the bench to contribute a career-best 15 points.  That game was part of Erskine's NCAA school record six game win-streak.

Erskine recently snapped a four game skid with a win over Lees-McRae last Saturday.

Mount Olive, conversely, just had a five game win streak snapped by King University in a 115-95 loss.

Perkins continues to lead the league in scoring, averaging 24.9 points per game.  Senior Chris Gore (Myrtle Beach, SC, Myrtle Beach High School) is having the best year of his career, pulling down on average 11.7 rebounds per game, second best in the conference, while averaging 7.4 points per game.

Unlike the Fleet, the Trojans only have two players averaging in double-figures, but do have eight players averaging 8 or more points per game.  Dontrelle Brite leads the Trojans at 15.2 points per game while teammate Jordan McCain is averages 12.8 points per game.

The Mount Olive Sports Information Department will be webcasting the game and providing live stats.  Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
