Box Score Due West, S.C. – Playing for the first time in ten days, the Erskine Flying Fleet (5-5) loss to the Trojans of Anderson University (7-1) 92 to 70 tonight in a non-conference women's basketball action at the Abney Center.
The lead exchanged hands four times until midway through the first half. With nine minutes remaining, #4 regionally ranked Anderson outscored Erskine 21 to 2 to claim a commanding 46 to 29 lead. That run proved to be the difference as the Fleet could never close the gap, losing by twenty-two points.
Sophomore
Ashley Espinosa (Reading, PA, Governor Mifflin High School) shot an impressive 8 of 12 from the floor to tally a game-high 21 points. Sophomore
Marnasha Eugene (Lithonia, GA, Stephenson High School) provided a spark off the bench with 10 points while fellow sophomore
Naomi Stuger (Marietta, GA, Kell High School) led the Fleet on the boards with 7 rebounds.
Anderson had four players score in double-figures. Jennifer Moore and Lesley Woods each scored 15 points while Jasmine Franklin tallied 13 points and a game-high 9 rebounds.
Erskine will resume play following the holidays at home on Friday, January 2
nd against the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
