Seniors lead Erskine past SWU 74-67

Box Score Central, S.C. – Seniors DeShaun Hall (Inman, SC, Landrum High School) and Justin Cofer (Evans, GA, Greenbrier High School) led the Erskine Flying Fleet (1-3, 1-1) to a 74-67 comeback road victory over the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University (1-5, 1-1) tonight in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action at Tysinger Gymnasium.  The two seniors scored nine points each as the Fleet outscored the Warriors 44 to 31 in the closing period to overcome a six point halftime deficit.

The Flying Fleet nailed two three-point shots to start the second half.  After a miss by SWU, Erskine's George Wood (Atlanta, GA, Druid Hills High School) and Arvel Atwater, Jr. (Capitol Heights, MD, Suitland High School) hit back-to-back three point baskets to tie the game at 36 to 36.  After exchanging several baskets, the Flying Fleet's Ray Lock (Aiken, SC, Oak Hill Academy) made back-to-back baskets to give the Fleet the lead they would never relinquish.

Erskine had nine players score on the night, led by Maurice Daniel's 17 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds.  Atwater contributed 12 points while Cofer finished with 11 points.

The Warriors' Buster Walker led all-scorers with 18 points while Dwayne Bryant had a game-high 12 rebounds.

Erskine travels to the University of Mount Olive next Wednesday.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
