Box Score Hartsville, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet lost 68 to 60 to Coker College Cobras in the final game of the Sodexo SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge in the new DeLoach Center on the campus of Coker College.
Coker opened the game with an 8 to 2 run that the Flying Fleet were never ever to overcome. Several times the Fleet were within a basket but could draw no closer.
In the second half, Coker again exploded out of the gate, lengthening their lead to as many as 21 points but the Fleet responded with their own run to cut the lead back to single-digits. Coker held on to win the game 68 to 60.
Erskine's
DeShaun Hall (Inman, SC, Landrum High School) came off the bench to spark the defense with 6 steals while scoring a team-high 13 points. Sophomore
Brandon Wilkerson (Summerville, SC, Summerville High School) contributed 10 points while freshman
Thomas Cameron (Atlanta, GA, Norcross High School) led the Fleet on the boards with 5 rebounds.
All the points for Coker were scored by their five starters except for a single basket. Errick Bethel led all-scorers with 19 points while teammate Larry Felder had 18 points and a game-high 9 rebounds.
Erskine returns to the hardwood on Monday night against Charleston Southern University at 7:00 p.m. The game will be aired on the
Big South network.
