Box Score Franklin Springs, Ga. – The Erskine Flying Fleet got 14 kills each from senior
Caitlin Bullock (Lexington, SC, White Knoll High School) and junior
Kelly Sullivan (Wellington, FL, Wellington Community High School) to defeat the Lions of Emmanuel College 3 to 1 tonight in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action at Shaw Athletic Center.
The Fleet got off to a slow start in tonight's game, splitting the first two sets before ramping up the offense to easily capture the last two sets. The Fleet trailed most of the first set until tying the set at 20 to 20 after a kill by Sullivan and an ace by
Kristen Dodge (Duncan, SC, Byrnes High School). The Fleet closed out the set on a 5 to 1 run with the final two points coming on a kills by Bullock and Sullivan.
The Lions repaid the favor to the Fleet in the second set. Erskine grabbed an early four point lead only to see Emmanuel win the set 26 to 24. It marked the first time the Flying Fleet had dropped a set in conference play.
Erskine roared back to win the final two sets in grand fashion 25 to 17 and 25 to 16 to win the match.
Dodge, the Fleet's setter, earned her eighth double-double of the season, handing out 41 assists along with 19 digs. She also had 8 service aces and 2 blocks. Sophomore
Kendall Kirk (Lexington, SC, White Knoll High School) had a game-high 21 digs from her libero position. It is the third time this season Kirk has had 21 or more digs in a game.
With the win, Erskine (11-5) extends their win streak to seven games and remains perfect in conference play at 7-0.
Erskine will compete in two more conference games this weekend. On Friday, the Fleet will travel to North Greenville University. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, Erskine plays co-conference leader Southern Wesleyan University. This game is now scheduled to start at noon.
