Beaufort, S.C. – Senior
Marlee Rhodes (Williamston, SC, Palmetto High School) shattered the school-record today at the Sand Shark Invitational hosted by USC-Beaufort while the rest of the Flying Fleet ran personal-best times to finish 20
th in the 37 team field.
Rhodes completed the 5K course in a time of 18:10, a full 22 seconds ahead of her previous best time and school-record 18:32. Her time is also the best time of any Conference Carolinas runner to date. Overall Rhodes finished 10th overall in the Invitational.
Senior
Rachel Moore (Lexington, SC, Lexington High School), who also plays on the Erskine Golf Team, finished second for the Flying Fleet, crossing the finish line in a personal best time of 20:34. Freshman
Rachel McGill (Columbia, SC, Dreher High School) was not far behind, completing the course in 20:48. Senior
Chelsea Ball (Spartanburg, SC, Dorman High School) just finished cracking the 21 minute mark, coming in with a time of 21:02. Sophomore
Ana Unda-Galvan (Hendersonville, NC, Hendersonville High School) rounded out the scoring for the Fleet, finishing in a time of 21:33.
SCAD-Savannah's Jessy Scarpone won the race in a time of 17:30 helping her team to a first place finish as well. Saint Leo University finished second while North Georgia was third.
Erskine will turn their attention now to the Conference Carolinas Championship Meet to be held November 7
th in Concord, North Carolina.
