Erskine welcomes Barton to Belk Arena Saturday night

Due West, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet host the Bulldogs of Barton College this Saturday night in Belk Arena starting at 7:30 p.m.

The two teams enter the contest tied for second place in the conference standings, just one game behind conference leading King University.

The Fleet (11-5, 5-2) had their six-game win streak halted Wednesday night by a hot-shooting Limestone College 76 to 65.  The Saints shot a sizzling 70% from the field in second half to pull away from the Flying Fleet.  Sophomore Roderick Perkins led the Fleet putting up 25 points in the loss.

Barton (9-8, 5-2), on the other hand, arrives at Belk Arena riding a three-game winning streak, their longest streak of the season thus far.  On Tuesday night, the Bulldogs thumped the Falcons of Pfeiffer University 83 to 59 while topping Limestone and Lees-McRae prior to that.

For the Flying Fleet, Perkins continues to lead both the conference and nation in scoring at 26.4 points per game.  Senior point guard Mike Gabbard ranks second in the conference in assists per game with 5.2 while senior post player Chris Gore is second in rebounds averaging 10.7 boards per game.

The Bulldogs have two players averaging in double-figures, led by sophomore guard Chris Flemming at 17.9 points per game.  Flemming also leads the team in rebounding at 7.2 boards per game.  Senior Brian McNair is second on the team in scoring averaging slightly better than 14 points per game.
