Box Score Gaffney, S.C. – Using home-court advantage, the Limestone College Saints (12-4, 7-1) routed the Erskine Flying Fleet (10-6, 5-3) 78 to 51 tonight in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action at the Timkin Center.
The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for the Flying Fleet while the Saints have now won three in a row.
Limestone led from the opening tip scoring the game's first points off a jumper by Ayshia McNeil. Erskine stayed within striking distance, trailing by just a point at 24 to 23 after 3-point basket by freshman
Ashley Mull (Belmont, NC, South Point High School) with a little over three minutes left in the opening period. Limestone ended the half on a 9 to 1 to take a 33 to 24 lead at intermission.
The game quickly got away from the Fleet in the second half as the Saints built their lead into double-digits, outscoring the Fleet 15 to 7 in the first five minutes. The Fleet never challenged for the lead after that.
Limestone's defense held Erskine's top ranked offense to their worst offensive performance of the season as the Fleet went just 10 for 51 from the floor.
Mull led the Fleet coming off the bench to score 12 points on 4 of 9 three-point shots. Freshman
Kristin Giles (Union, SC, Union County High School) was the only other Fleet player to reach double-figures with 10 points. Freshman
Naomi Stuger (Marietta, GA, Kell High School) led the Fleet on the boards with 7 rebounds.
The Saints had four players reach double-figures, led by Celestra Warren's 20 points. Jasmine Kearse and Alicia Bookins both finished with 14 points while Precilla Hill contributed 12 points.
After playing the last two games on the road, Erskine returns home this Saturday to host the Bulldogs of Barton College. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
