Erskine wins; extends win streak to record 6 games

Box Score Misenheimer, N.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet (11-4, 5-1) defeated the Falcons of Pfeiffer University (4-12, 1-6) 67 to 57 tonight in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action at Merner Gym.

With the win, Erskine extends their win streak to six games, the longest win streak for the Flying Fleet since joining the NCAA Division II ranks back in 1995.

Erskine struggled from the field tonight, shooting a season-low 31.3% (21 of 67), but made up for it by outrebounding Pfeiffer 50 to 43 and getting to the line 23 times compared to Pfeiffer's 10.

Despite their offensive struggles, Erskine led most of the game.  Pfeiffer briefly took the lead early in the first half but Erskine scored the game's next eight points to retake the lead.  Roderick Perkins (Smyrna, GA, Campbell High School) drilled a 3-pointer to tie the game and Mike Gabbard (Erlanger, KY, Boone County High School) made the Fleet's next two baskets to give the Fleet the lead they would never relinquish.

Jake Haslam (Lithia, FL, Tampa Preparatory School) led all-scorers with 18 points, going 6 of 16 from three-point range.  Perkins contributed his second double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Gabbard finished with 14 points and 5 assists.  Senior Chris Gore (Myrtle Beach, SC, Myrtle Beach High School) had another big night on the boards, grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds along with 6 blocks and 2 steals.
