Due West, S.C. – The Erskine women's basketball will seek their fourth consecutive win this Saturday at conference foe Pfeiffer University. A win would also be the Fleet's first at Pfeiffer since the 2008-2009 season.
The Flying Fleet (9-5, 4-2) enter Saturday's contest having won seven of their last eight games, including a thrilling one point victory over conference foe Mount Olive on Wednesday. The Fleet's only blemish during this incredible run is a one-point road loss to Lees-McRae College.
Freshman point guard
Raygon Hendrix (Summerville, SC, Pinewood Preparatory School) has emerged as a consistent scoring threat lately, having scored in double-figures her last five games, averaging 14.2 points per game. Meanwhile, junior
Andrienne Bannerman (Wilmington, NC, Pender High School) and freshman
Naomi Stuger (Marietta, GA, Kell High School) have become a powerful force on the boards. Over the last five games, Bannerman has averaged 9.4 rebounds per game, including three games in which she has had 10 or more rebounds. Stuger has been almost as impressive, averaging 7.4 rebounds per game.
Pfeiffer University (2-12, 1-5) looks to snap a three-game losing skid on Saturday. The Falcons latest lost came at the hands of North Greenville University on Wednesday 74 to 59, who the Fleet defeated at home 71 to 66.
As a team, Pfeiffer struggles to put the ball in the hoop, averaging just 59.2 points per game, with only two players averaging double-digits in scoring. Carter Williams leads the team, averaging 12.8 points a game while teammate Alexis Staddard averages 11.6 points per game. Lauren White is the Falcons leading rebounder at 5.6 boards per game but, more importantly, White leads the conference in block shots with 38.
