Erskine seeks 6th consecutive victory

Due West, S.C. – On Saturday against Pfeiffer University, Erskine (10-4, 4-1) looks to extend their current win streak to six games, which would be the Flying Fleet's longest win streak since joining the NCAA Division II ranks back in 1995.

Erskine has won the last three meetings between the two schools, including a thrilling 82 to 76 overtime win at Pfeiffer last season.  Roderick Perkins and Jake Haslam (Lithia, FL, Tampa Preparatory School) led the Fleet in scoring that night with 24 and 21 points respectively.

Erskine's defense will be asked to stop a Pfeiffer offense that has been averaging just north of 80 points per game.  Defensively Erskine yields a conference low 64.1 points per game, thirteenth best in the nation.  On the flip side, Pfeiffer has allowed opponents to score a conference-worst 88.3 points per game.

Saturday's game will feature the conference's top two scoring leaders.  Erskine's Roderick Perkins (Smyrna, GA, Campbell High School) currently leads both the conference and nation in scoring, averaging 27.3 points per game, while Pfeiffer's Mike Smith is second in the conference and third in the nation, averaging 25.5 points per game.

In addition emergence of Perkins this season, Erskine has seen freshman Maurice Daniels, Jr. (Spartanburg, SC, Dorman High School) grow into another scoring option.  Since being inserted into the starting lineup back on December 4th against King University, the 5'10 speedy guard has averaged 10 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game and scored a season-high 15 points on Wednesday in the Fleet's 77 to 64 win over Mt. Olive.  The Fleet have gone 5-1 during that six-game span.

Senior post playerChris Gore (Myrtle Beach, SC, Myrtle Beach High School) is quietly having the best year of his career.  Gore, who easily leads the team in rebounding, is averaging double-digit rebounds for the first time in his career at 10.9 boards per game, which ranks him 2nd in the conference and 12th in the nation.

Pfeiffer enters Saturday's contest at 4-11 overall and 1-5 in conference play.  The Falcons dropped their last game to North Greenville 89 to 72 but prior to that snapped a four-game losing skid by topping Lees-McRae in a high scoring affair 106 to 99.

Besides Smith, Pfeiffer has another conference scoring leader in A.J. Clark, who averages 18.0 points per game, 7th best in the conference.  On the boards, the Falcons are led by David McNair's 10 rebounds per game while Silvere Aluko leads the conference in blocked shots with 43.
