Erskine Women's Basketball welcomes Mount Olive on Wednesday

Due West, S.C. – After last night's win against non-conference opponent Allen University, Erskine (8-5, 3-2) has reached the midpoint of their season with the reminder of their games coming against conference opponents.

First up are the Trojans of the University of Mount Olive, who visit Belk Arena Wednesday starting at 5:30 p.m.  The Trojans enter Wednesday's contest with an identical record of 8-5 overall and 3-2 in conference.

The Trojans have faced four consecutive conference opponents, going 2-2 during that stretch.  In their last contest, the Trojans topped North Greenville University 75 to 64.  Prior to that, the Trojans had dropped their last two games by double-digits to Limestone and King.

The Trojans are led by a quartet of seniors.  Shooting guard Joneiqua Gray leads the group in scoring averaging 16.6 points per game while shooting 35.4% from behind the arc.  At the other guard position, Katie Paschel averages 15.6 points per game but does not have the shooting range of Gray.  In the front court, Jasmine McDonald averages just shy of a double-double at 10.8 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.

Despite currently leading the conference in scoring, Erskine only has one player currently ranked in the top 10 in scoring.  Freshman Kristin Giles (Union, SC, Union County High School) leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.6 points per game, while fellow freshman guard Raygon Hendrix (Summerville, SC, Pinewood Preparatory School)is the only other player to currently average double-figures at 11.2 points per game.  Although the Fleet have had seven players score in double-digits in a game this season.

Erskine's early success has been largely due to their defensive pressure.  The Flying Fleet easily lead the conference in steals at 12.8 per game.  Hendrix leads the way but is closely followed by Giles and Naomi Stuger (Marietta, GA, Kell High School).
