Wednesday's game features conference's top point guards

Due West, S.C. – Wednesday's night matchup between the Erskine Flying Fleet and the University of Mount Olive Trojans will feature the top two point guards in the conference.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

Erskine's Mike Gabbard (Erlanger, KY, Boone County High School)is just two assists back of Mount Olive's Dory Hines and both are tied for first in assist to turnover ratio at 2.7.

Erskine currently owns a four game win streak, including a perfect 3-0 in conference play, and enters the game at 9-4 overall and 3-1 in conference.  The Fleet sit atop the conference standings with King University with one loss each.

While the Fleet offensively are scoring on average a pedestrian 75 points per game, defensively the Fleet are yielding a scrooge-like 64.1 points per game, easily the best in the conference and 13th overall in the nation.

The main beneficiary of Gabbard's handouts is sophomore wingRoderick Perkins (Smyrna, GA, Campbell High School).  Perkins currently leads the nation in scoring averaging averaging 26.7 points along with 6.5 rebounds per game.

The Trojans, meanwhile, look to end a two game skid, having lost to conference foes North Greenville University and King University.  The Trojans are currently 8-6 overall and 2-2 in conference.

The Trojans have three players averaging double-figures, led by Jordan McCain at 14.3 points per game.  Shooting guard Dontrell Brite is second in scoring, averaging 14.0 points per game, and leads the team in 3-point attempts and baskets, while Dominque Brown contributes 10.8 points per game.
