Box Score Due West, S.C. – The Erskine Flying Fleet swatted the Yellow Jackets of Allen University 79 to 48 to earn their ninth win of the year in non-conference men's basketball action at Belk Arena.
Defensively Erskine (9-4) overwhelmed Allen University, holding the Yellow Jackets to just 20 of 62 from the field, including a paltry 3 of 14 from behind the arc, while forcing 20 turnovers.
Conversely, the Fleet shot 45.5% from the floor, including a solid 34.8% from 3-point land. The Fleet's only poor performance on the afternoon was from the free throw line, converting just 11 of 23.
Erskine's
Roderick Perkins (Smyrna, GA, Campbell High School) again exceeded the 30 point plateau, scoring a game-high 33 points in just 29 minutes of playing time. It is his third consecutive game with 30 or more points and the sixth time this season. Since coming back from break, Perkins has scored 100 points over the last three games.
Erskine had 13 players play in the game with 11 players scoring a basket.
The Yellow Jackets had just one player reach double-digits. Jadia Johnson came off the bench to score 10 points.
Perkins scored the game's first points as the Fleet never trailed in the game. At halftime, Erskine led by 11 at 29 to 18.
In the second half, Erskine lengthened their lead to more than 20 points, eventually winning the game by 31 at 79 to 48.
Erskine, who now sits atop the conference standings with King University at 3-1, hosts the University of Mount Olive Trojans on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
