Sumter, S.C. – #6 Erskine lost to #3 Mount Olive College 5 to 1 in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Men’s Tennis Championship Tournament at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, South Carolina.
After the opening round of doubles play, Erskine found themselves trailing 2 to 1. Freshmen
Dean Harris (Benoni, South Africa, Christian Brothers College) and
Alan Pearce (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) won the Fleet’s lone point at #2 doubles topping their opponent 8 to 6. Junior
Jack West (Belton, SC, Emerald High School) and sophomore
Wilson Mathewes (Greenville, SC, Mauldin High School) played well but could not pull the upset falling 8 to 5.
The Trojans won at #4, #5, and #6 singles in straight sets to take the set and advance to tomorrow’s semi-final round.
Erskine concludes their season at 8-14.
