Box Score Salisbury, N.C. – Playing their last game on the road, Erskine slipped by Catawba 13 to 10 to end their season at 6-11 overall. With the win, the Flying Fleet set a record for most wins in a season, topping last season’s record of five.
With the game knotted at 1-1, Erskine scored the game’s next three goals to take a 4 to 1 lead. Sophomore
Samantha Burns (Hilton Head Island, SC, Hilton Head Island High School) led the Fleet charge with two goals while
Hillary Henry (Columbia,SC, Ridgeview) and
Von McKenzie (Greenville, SC, Woodmont High School) each had one.
Catawba got within one at 5-4 but Erskine tacked on two more goals to take a 7 to 5 lead into halftime.
After Catawba tied the game at 7-7 to start the second period, Erskine tacked on two goals, one by Henry, the other by Kelly Dalziel, and the Fleet never trailed again. Erskine won the match 13 to 10.
Burns continued her assault on the Erskine record books, posting five goals, while Henry finished with three goals.
Erskine goalkeeper Konstandena Brown (Wilmington, NC, John T. Hoggard High School) finished with 11 saves on 22 shots.
