Due West, S.C. – Erskine celebrated senior day with a 9 to 0 victory over the Crusaders of North Greenville University today in Conference Carolinas men’s tennis action at the Erskine College Tennis Courts.
After winning the first two doubles matches, senior
Aaron Twitty (West Columbia, SC, Brookland-Cayce High School) and sophomore
Robert Clarke (Due West, SC, Belton-Honea Path High School) closed out their match with an 8-6 win.
Erskine swept all six singles matches for the shutout victory.
Dean Harris (Benoni, South Africa, Christian Brothers College) won two tough sets 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) to preserve the shutout. Twitty won his set 6-0, 7-5 to end his career at home with a win.
Fellow senior
James Hoatson (Harding, South Africa, Maritzburg High School) was not able to play due to an injury back in February.
Erskine now stands at 8-12 overall but evens their conference record at 5-5.
With several matches still unplayed, Erskine does not know its exact seeding for the upcoming conference tournament. With the win, Erskine will finish no worse than 7
th in the conference.
Erskine plays non-conference foe Anderson University on Monday to conclude their regular season.
