Box Score Spartanburg, S.C. – Despite firing off my shots than their opponent, Erskine lost to Converse 13-10 today in Conference Carolinas women’s lacrosse action on the campus of Converse College.
Erskine fell behind quickly as Converse tallied two goals within the first minute. Snydie Hickey notched the first goal just 29 seconds into the game and followed it with another goal by Amelia Hahn 32 seconds later.
Erskine tightened their defense and scored two goals, both on free position attempts, to tie the game at 2-2.
Anna Dailey (Clinton, SC, Clinton High School) scored the first Fleet goal while
Kelly Dalziel (Ocean, NJ, Ocean Township High School) had the second one.
After exchanging goals, Converse appeared ready to blow out the Fleet scoring four unanswered goals. After
Samantha Burns (Hilton Head Island, SC, Hilton Head Island High School) scored a goal for the Fleet, Dailey added two more to pull the Fleet within one at the half.
Erskine outshot Converse 11-10 in the first half.
In the second half, Erskine could not put together another run to close the gap, losing 13-10. Again Erskine recorded more shots at 12-10 but failed to put the ball in the back of the net.
Erskine hosts the Trojans of Mount Olive College this Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
