Erskine learns tournament fate; travels to King

Due West, S.C. – Erskine had to wait until the last conference games were played to learn who and where they would be playing this Monday night in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament.  Erskine (17-9, 11-9) earned the #6 seed and will play at #3 King University (19-7, 14-6) this Monday.  Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.

Erskine split their two matchups earlier this season with the home team prevailing each time.  In the first game back on January 9th, Erskine used their home court advantage to defeat King 77 to 65.  The Fleet had five players finish in double-digits led by freshman Roderkick Perkins’ 21 points.  Logan Lyle led the Tornado with 16 points and Jason Seymore finished with a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

King won the most recent contest 67 to 59 on February 6th.   In that game, Erskine committed 21 turnovers and was an anemic 8 of 20 from the free throw line.  Sorrell led the Fleet that night with 15 points.  King was led by Lyle’s 22 points, who was 5 of 11 from behind the arc.

If the Fleet win Monday, they will advance to play the winner of #2 Limestone vs. #7 Mt. Olive College on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.  The higher seed will host the game.

The Flying Fleet Network with C.J. Long will be travelling to King on Monday and will bring you the game coverage through the network’s web provider America One.
