Box Score Bristol, Tenn. – Erskine lost on the road tonight 55 to 36 to the Tornado of King College in women’s basketball action at Student Center Complex on the King College campus.
The Fleet shot a season-low 20% (11 of 55) from the floor, including an anemic 13% (3 of 23) in the first half.
After exchanging three point baskets to start the game, King scored 8 unanswered, four points coming from Alley Sprouse, as King never looked back. The Tornado slowly built their lead to double-digits as the Fleet repeatedly misfired. King lead 27 to 13 at halftime.
Despite the poor shooting, Erskine played hard in the second half, gaining 8 additional shots over King through turnovers and rebounds.
Tori Whittenberg (Mauldin, SC, Mauldin High School) led the Fleet with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Sophomore
Tara Potter (Sherrills Ford, NC, Bandys High School) scored 10 points with 7 rebounds while Jana Dixon had a team-high 11 boards.
Kelly Jackson and Stephanie Brantley both scored 11 points to led King. Sprouse had a game-high 14 rebounds along with 6 points.
Erskine returns home to host the Falcons of Pfeiffer University this Saturday. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
