Erskine blows out Allen Univ. for historic 15th win

Box Score Due West, S.C. – Erskine earned their 15th win of the season tonight, blowing out Allen University 72 to 46 in non-conference men’s basketball action at Belk Arena.  Fifteen wins are the most victories in a season for the Flying Fleet since joining the NCAA Division II ranks in 1992.

All seventeen Fleet players played and contributed as the Fleet never trailed in the game. The knockout blow came early as Erskine scored the game’s first seven points and held Allen to just four points through the first eight minutes of play.  Erskine led 35 to 21 at intermission.

Erskine continued to extend their lead throughout the second half and won the game 72 to 46. 

In all, eleven Fleet players scored on the night.  Junior DeShaun Hall (Inman, SC, Landrum High School) led the Fleet with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.  Senior Corey Sorrell (Walton, KY, Holy Cross High School) scored 13 points while his younger brother Casey came off the bench to contribute 11 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.

Richard Johnson led the Yellow Jackets with 14 points.  He was the only Allen player to reach double-digits.

Erskine now turns their attention toward conference play with the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College visiting Belk Arena this Wednesday.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
