Erskine falls on the road to Queens 15-5

Box Score Charlotte, N.C. – Erskine Lacrosse suffered their first loss of the season this afternoon losing on the road 15 to 5 to Queens University in Conference Carolinas women’s lacrosse action at the Queens Sports Complex.

Queens (1-0, 1-0) made an early statement scoring the game’s first goal in 18 seconds.  Arika Zimmerman won the opening draw control and Queens quickly rushed the ball down field where Jena Ready found the back of the net at the 19:42 mark.  Queens added six more goals in the opening period.

Erskine’s Samantha Burns (Hilton Head Island, SC, Hilton Head Island High School) put the Fleet on the board right before halftime on a free position goal.

The Fleet (2-1, 0-1) tightened their defense in the second half but could not finish on the offensive end.  Queens scored three goals in the first ten minutes before Hillary Henry added the Fleet’ second goal, also a free position goal.

Both teams scored three goals each over the last fifteen minutes to reach the final tally of 15 to 5.

Burns led the Fleet with 3 goals while Henry and Von McKenzie scored one a piece.

Ready and Zimmerman led the Royals with 4 goals each.  Brittany Larranaga scored 2 goals and had 2 assists.

Erskine hosts Roberts Wesleyan College this Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.  Admission is free to all Erskine home lacrosse matches.
