Henry powers Erskine past Young Harris 20-7

Box Score Due West, S.C. – Erskine’s Hillary Henry (Columbia,SC, Ridgeview) scored a career-high 6 goals as the Fleet breezed past the Lions of Young Harris College 20 to 7 tonight in non-conference women’s lacrosse action at Huggins Field.

Henry scored her first goal on a free position attempt just a minute into the game.  Young Harris tied the game shortly thereafter on a goal by Jaclyn Kernohan.  At that point, it was all Erskine.  The Fleet scored the next three goals before surrendering their second and last goal of the half.  Erskine answered that goal with eight goals to take a commanding 13 to 2 lead into halftime.

Erskine slowed their attack down in the second half, tallying 7 goals to Young Harris’ 5 goals.

Sophomore Samantha Burns (Hilton Head Island, SC, Hilton Head Island High School) found the back of the net four times and assisted on two other Fleet goals.  Sarah Tibbits (Marietta, GA, Sprayberry High School) and Von McKenzie (Greenville, SC, Woodmont High School) also had 3 goals each with Tibbits also contributing 2 assists.

Erskine goalkeeper Konstandena Brown (Wilmington, NC, John T. Hoggard High School) surrendered the 7 goals while recording 2 saves.

For Young Harris, Taylor Lincoln recorded 5 goals while Kernohan had two tallies.

Erskine is now 2-0 on the season and travels to Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday for their first conference game against Queens University.  Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
