Erskine's late run comes up short, lose 60 to 55

Box Score Due West, S.C. – Erskine's late run came up short as the Fleet lost 60 to 55 to archrival Anderson University tonight in non-conference men's basketball action at Belk Arena.

Trailing by ten with less than three minutes remaining, Erskine's Roderick Perkins (Smyrna, GA, Campbell High School) nailed two three point baskets and teammate Chris Gore added two more off an Anderson turnover to close within three points.

After the second Perkins three pointer, Jake Haslam (Lithia, FL, Tampa Preparatory School) stole the inbounds pass but his three point shot to tie the game was off the mark.  The Fleet's final two desperation shots also missed as Anderson won 60 to 55.

Senior Mike Gabbard (Erlanger, KY, Boone County High School) led the Fleet with 18 points while Perkins added 14 points and a team-high 8 rebounds before fouling out.

The Trojans were led by Chandler Hash's game-high 22 points while Chris Ross chipped in 16 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.

It was not a good shooting night for the Fleet, going just 18 for 56 from the field (32%).

Erskine (1-2) plays host in the Red Myers Classic this Thursday and Friday.  Erskine will play Johnson University on Thursday followed by Toccoa Falls College on Friday.  Both games start at 7:00 p.m.
