Box Score Columbia, S.C. – Erskine’s Corey Sorrell (Walton, KY, Holy Cross High School) scored a career-high 31 points as the Fleet blew past the Yellow Jackets of Allen University 80 to 57 in non-conference men’s basketball action.

Sorrell scored the first basket of the game and junior Jake Haslam (Lithia, FL, Tampa Preparatory School) followed with back-to-back three point shots as Erskine (12-5) jumped out to a 10 to 4 lead.   Erskine pushed their lead to double-digits at halftime as junior DeShaun Hall (Inman, SC, Landrum High School) stole the ball and feed Sorrell for a layup as time expired for a 31 to 20 lead.

Erskine opened the second half scoring the first six points, four points by Sorrell.  Erskine eventually stretched their lead to as many as 27 points before winning 80 to 57.

In addition to Sorrell, two other Fleet players reached double-digits tonight.  Hall finished with 16 points while Haslam had 11 points.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Richard Johnson, who had 22 points.  Derick McCord pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds as Allen won the battle on the boards 45 to 34.

Erskine hosts Coker College this Saturday.  Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
