#5 Limestone flattens Fleet 23-3

Box Score Due West, S.C. – Conference-leading and #5 ranked Limestone College flattened the Erskine Flying Fleet 23-3 this afternoon in Conference Carolinas women’s lacrosse action at Huggins Field.  Erskine falls to 4-9 overall and 2-4 in conference while Limestone remains perfect in conference at 5-0 and 13-1 overall.

Substituting often Limestone led 14-0 at halftime as the Fleet struggled with the depth and speed of the visiting Saints. The Saints outshot the Fleet 26-6 in the opening period.

In the second half, Erskine put together several scoring opportunities tallying three goals.  After a miss by junior Anna Dailey (Clinton, SC, Clinton High School), Von McKenzie (Greenville, SC, Woodmont High School) picked up a loose ball in front of the Limestone goal and slipped it by the goalkeeper for the Fleet’s first goal.  Freshman Samantha Burns (Hilton Head Island, SC, Hilton Head Island High School) used her speed to split the Limestone defense for Erskine’s second goal.  The Fleet’s last goal came with 8:18 remaining as Kelly Dalziel (Ocean, NJ, Ocean Township High School) found Denise Zani (Greenville, SC, Eastside High School) in front of the Saint goal.

For the Saints, twelve players scored a goal on the day.  Jessica Aguanno recorded a game-high 5 goals while teammate Chelsea Treat added three additional goals to lead the Saints.  Racquel Prager had a game-high 3 assists along with 2 goals.

Erskine goalkeeper Kaitlyn Overley (Clayton, NC, Blythewood High School) faced 43 shots and recorded 20 saves while Limestone’s Brigid Milchling had 5 saves on 8 shots.

Erskine concludes their season on the road next Tuesday against Newberry College.  Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
