Due West, SC – Anderson University defeated Erskine 8-1 in non-conference men’s tennis action this afternoon at the Erskine College Tennis Complex. With the victory, Anderson earns a point in the Beville Cup competition to move two points ahead of the Fleet. Erskine drops their sixth match in a row while Anderson improves to 6-4 overall.
Sophomore
Jack West (Belton, SC, Emerald High School) won the Fleet’s lone point at #3 singles over Krystof Gulbinovic. West won the first set 7-5 and led 6-5 in the second set when Gublinovic retired. Anderson won the other five singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles play, West and freshman
Connor Roy (Greenville, SC, Travelers Rest High School) battled hard but were edged in the last game to lose the match 8-6. Anderson easily took the other two doubles matches 8-4 and 8-0.
Erskine hosts Cedarville University on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
