Florida Southern overwhelms Erskine 22-7

Box Score Due West, SC – Fresh off their defeat of #10 Mercyhurst, Florida Southern (5-0) overwhelmed the Erskine Flying Fleet 22-7 today in non-conference women’s lacrosse action at Huggins Field.  Erskine slips to 1-3 on the young season.

Florida Southern started the game scoring the first five goals and never looked back.  Florida Southern led 14-2 at halftime.

The Flying Fleet continued to play hard in the second half, scoring five more goals while surrendering just eight goals.

Eleven players scored for Florida Southern led by Lorianne Hoover and Megan Asper with 4 each.  Caitlin Chase had a game-high 5 assists.

Erskine’s Samantha Burns (Hilton Head Island, SC, Hilton Head Island High School) had 3 goals while Amy Calhoun (Simpsonville, SC, Hillcrest High School) added two more goals.  Senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Overley (Clayton, NC, Blythewood High School)had a game-high 14 saves on the day.

Erskine travels to Hickory, North Carolina, tomorrow to play the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne College.  Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
