Erskine Women's Basketball set for 3-game home stand; Men home for 2.

Due West, SC – The Erskine Women’s Basketball Team kicks off a 3-game home stand tomorrow against NAIA-affiliated Allen University while the Erskine men's basketball team will play at home for their next two games.  Game times for tomorrow are 2:00 p.m. for the women and 4:00 p.m. for men.

Allen University women's basketball team enters tomorrow’s contest at 5-10 overall.  The Yellow Jackets won the last contest 49-45 over Pensacola Christian.  Prior to that, Allen University had dropped their previous seven contests, including two games to Conference Carolina member North Greenville University.  Mayana Legrande leads the Yellow Jackets in scoring and rebounding averaging 9.73 points per game and 9.43 rebounds per game.

On Tuesday, the Fleet returns to conference play hosting new Conference Carolinas member King College at 5:30 p.m.   King College picked up just their second win of the season on Monday with a 55-52 victory over Lees-McRae College.  The Tornado host Barton College this Saturday before coming to Belk Arena on Tuesday.   King’s leading scorer is Brooke Johnson with 10.5 points per game while Alley Sprouse averages 5.0 rebounds per game.

The Flying Fleet conclude their home stand on Thursday against Converse College.  Erskine looks to avenge an earlier 69 to 63 loss to the Valkyries back on November 29th.   Converse is missing their two leading scorers from that game and has not won since that game.  Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.

On the men’s side, Erskine will also host Allen University tomorrow and King College on Tuesday.   Both games will immediately start following the conclusion of the women’s game.  Allen University is currently 3-14 on the year and last won on November 12th against Knoxville College 83-66.  The Yellow Jackets currently have three players averaging double-digits, led by Richard Johnson’s 21.4 points per game.  Jeremy Crawford is second on the team averaging 16.4 points per game while appearing in 11 of Allen’s 17 games this season.

King College enters Tuesday’s contest currently leading the West Division in Conference Carolinas at 6-0 and are 14-3 overall.  King will host conference foe Barton College tomorrow before travelling to Due  West on Tuesday.  King currently owns a 6-game winning streak, including a 72-51 win over Lees-McRae College earlier this week.  King is led by Brian Hewitt, who averages 17.5 ppg, and Eddie Piccinni with 15.2 point per game.

Admission to Erskine basketball games is $5.00 for general admission and $8 for reserved seats.  Tickets may be purchased at the gate up to 45 minutes before game time.
