Greenwood, SC – The Erskine men’s tennis team lost to #11 Lander University 9 to 0 today at the Joe Cabri Courts.  Erskine falls to 1-8 overall while Lander remains unbeaten at 10-0.

Lander easily cruised through the three doubles matches, winning 8-3, 8-0 and 8-2.

In the singles matches, Erskine fought hard but did not win a set.  Angelo Ciarrocchi (Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Theodor Herzl High School) lost in straight sets 6-1 and 6-2 at #1 singles.  After dropping his opening set 6-1, Christian Ranguelov (Vienna, Austria, Gen. Vladmir Stoychev) pushed Oscar Perman in the second set, losing 6-4.   Freshman Jack West (Belton, SC, Emerald High School) suffered just his third singles defeat this season losing to Christopher Mattson in a tight match 6-4 and 6-3.  Vincent Chauvette (Levis, Quebec, Canada, Ecole Pointe-Levy) also played well against a tough opponent losing 6-3 and 6-3.

Erskine returns to action this Thursday when Cedarville University visits Due West.  Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
