Mt. Olive, NC – The Erskine men’s tennis suffered two loses this weekend. On Friday, Erskine lost to Barton College 6 to 3 and lost to Mt. Olive College on Saturday 7 to 2. With the two losses, the Fleet fall to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in conference.
Barton took the three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead in Friday’s match. The Fleet won three of the six singles matches to lose the match 6-3. Both Christian Ranguelov (Vienna, Austria, Gen. Vladmir Stoychev) and Jack West (Belton, SC, Emerald High School) won their singles matches in straight sets. James Hoatson (Harding, South Africa, Maritzbourg High School) needed three sets to win his match while Vincent Chauvette (Levis, Quebec, Canada, Ecole Pointe-Levy)l ost his match in three sets.
On Saturday, the Fleet struggled as well. Mt. Olive College took all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead into the singles competition. Jack West and Vincent Chauvette won their singles matches in straight sets. Angelo Ciarrocchi (Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Theodor Herzl High School) lost a tough match, losing both sets 7-5, in his singles match.
Erskine goes on the road to archrival Anderson University on Tuesday. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
