Erskine loses to Pfeiffer 83-74

The first half saw the lead change hands seven times along with two ties.  To start the game, the Fleet grabbed an early 6-1 lead on back-to-back 3-point baskets by freshman Casey Sorrell (Walton, KY, Simon Kenton High School) and junior Filip Pejovic (Prijepolje, Serbia, Prijepoljska Gimnazija).  Pfeiffer countered with a 17-4 run, punctuated by a Chris Woods' dunk with 14:06 remaining.   Four minutes later the Fleet were back to within two on a 3-point shot by freshman DeShaun Hall (Inman, SC, Landrum High School).  After a Pfeiffer basket, Pejovic hit his second 3-point basket of the half to pull the Fleet within one at 23-22.  After trading a series of baskets, Erskine retook the lead on a three pointer by Jake Haslam (Lithia, FL, Tampa Preparatory School).  Pfeiffer ended the half on a 5-1 spurt to take a 38-32 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Pfeiffer maintained their lead until midway through the second half.  Erskine’s Troy Griffith (Augusta, GA, Evans High School) pulled the Fleet within three points at 60-57 after stealing the ball and getting fouled to convert a traditional 3-point play.  Later Travis Liner (Charlotte, NC, Northside Christian Academy) made consecutive baskets to get the Fleet within a point twice but each time Pfeiffer converted on the offensive end.  Pfeiffer finished on a 10-3 run to seal the 83-74 victory.
