The lead continued to exchange hands to start the second half.  With 11:07 remaining, Lander’s Tolbert hit a 3-point shot to start a Bearcat 9-0 run.  Erskine slowly climbed back into the game that saw Erskine close to within two at 58-56 on a runner by sophomore Mike Gabbard (Erlanger, KY, Western Kentucky University) in the lane with 4:09 left to play.   After two made free throws by Tolbert, neither team scored over the next three and half minutes.  With less than 35 seconds remaining, Erskine forced Lander’s Wright to the line.  He converted both ends of the one and one to push the lead to six at 62-56.  Corey Sorrell made a nice move to the basket to cut the lead to four with 19 seconds remaining.  Wright made one more free throw to give the Bearcats the 63-58 victory.

During halftime, Erskine recognized their fall sport student-athletes who made either the Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference or All-Conference Teams.

Erskine is back in action tomorrow against archrival Anderson University.  Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
