Due West, SC – The Erskine Men’s Basketball Team (1-7) kicks off a four-game home stand today against the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University at 3:00 p.m. while the Erskine Women’s Basketball Team (2-5, 0-1) returns to action following the Christmas break on the road against Augusta State University.  Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.

The Flying Fleet opened the post-Christmas portion of their schedule on Wednesday against in-state opponent Charleston Southern University.  Despite the outcome, Erskine played well on the road against the NCAA Division I opponent.  The Fleet only trailed by one point at halftime, 42-41, and had an early second half lead.  It took an 11-0 run by the Buccaneers in the last ten minutes of play to put the game away.  Sophomore guard Mike Gabbard (Erlanger, KY, Western Kentucky University) scored a season-high 21 points in the loss.

Next week the Flying Fleet play three consecutive home double-headers starting on Tuesday night.  The men’s basketball team opens conference play when the Saints of Limestone College visit the friendly confides of Belk Arena.  It will be the second conference game for the women’s team.  The Lady Fleet dropped an earlier game to Converse College.

Two days later on Thursday, Erskine welcomes new Conference Carolinas member, North Greenville University, to Belk Arena.  For both weekday games, the women’s game starts at 5:30 p.m. with the men’s game immediately following at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Erskine caps off the home stand when in-state conference member Coker College comes to Due West.  The women’s game tips off at 2:00 p.m. with the men’s game starting at approximately 4:00 p.m.

Admission to the games is $5 for general admission and $8 for reserved seats.  Doors open 45 minutes prior to game time.
