Charlotte, NC – Erskine lost on the road to Queens University 60 to 45 in Conference Carolinas men’s basketball action at Ovens Athletic Center. It was the Fleet’s first game since December 4th. Erskine is now 0-7 overall and 0-3 in conference. Queens University improves to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Down by five points for most of the first half, Erskine closed to within one at halftime, 24-23, on a 7-3 run led by junior Filip Pejovic (Prijepolje, Serbia, Prijepoljska Gimnazija).
With the score 40 to 37, Queens University used a 13-4 run midway through the second half to take a twelve point lead at 53 to 41. Queens maintained their lead to win the game 60 to 45.
Queens University had a commanding advantage from the charity stripe, converting 22 of 31 attempts compared to Erskine’s 2 of 6.
Pejovic led the Fleet with a team-high 16 points and 6 rebounds. Sophomore Chris Gore (Myrtle Beach, SC, Myrtle Beach High School)scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Queens had three players reach double-digits, led by Daniel Bailey’s 16 points. Reggie Hopkins and Brent Evans added 12 and 11 points respectively. Evans had a game-high 9 rebounds.
Erskine travels to Belmont-Abbey College on Thursday. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
