Queens Ends Erskine's Postseason Run

Charlotte, NCQueens University ended the Fleet’s postseason run tonight 81 to 58.  The Fleet, the #8 seed, only trailed by two points, 26 to 24, at halftime and looked poised to pull their 2nd upset victory in the tournament.  The Fleet had beaten #1 seed Barton College on Monday night in the first round of the Conference Carolinas postseason tournament.  Unfortunately, Queens University got hot in the second half, shooting an impressive 53% (17 of 32) from the floor, including 4 for 4 from three point range.  Up to this point, the Royals had struggled with their outside shot against the Erskine zone defense.  Meanwhile, the Fleet had difficulty connecting from long-range, only making 2 of 18 from 3-point range.   Queens University also held a huge rebounding advantage, 53 to 30, leading to 17 2nd chance points for the Royals.
