Due West, SC – The men’s tennis played two close matches this weekend.  In the first match against #17 ranked USC-Aiken, the score does not reflect how close the Fleet came to an upset.  In doubles play, the Fleet almost got a point in #2 doubles, but the USC-Aiken duo put the Fleet away 8 to 5.  In singles action, the Fleet forced USC-Aiken to three sets in three matches, winning one.  In #6 singles, James Hoatson fell short twice, losing each set 6 to 4.

Today the Fleet played tough conference foe Mount Olive College.  Erskine won two of the three doubles matches, giving the team hopes of a victory.  Unfortunately, the Trojans rallied to win the four of the singles matches to win the match 5 to 4.

With the two losses, the Fleet drop to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in conference.  Mount Olive College gets their first win of the season, improving to 1-3 overall, 1-0 conference.

The Fleet host Belmont-Abbey College on Monday at 2 p.m.
