Due West, SC – Erskine scored to first two baskets of the game on two 3-pointers by senior Nick Riley (Stone Mountain, GA, Lakeside High School) only to see Pfeiffer University use a 20-2 run to cruise to a 70 to 45 victory in Conference Carolinas men’s basketball action at Belk Arena.  Erskine drops to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in conference while Pfeiffer evens their record at 3-3 and 1-0 in conference.
Josh Humphrey led the charge for the Falcons, scoring 14 of his game-high 19 points during the run, including hitting four 3-point shots.  By half, Pfeiffer had stretched their lead to 20 points at 37-17.  Erskine shot only 26% from the floor in the half.
While shooting better in the second half (41%), the Fleet could not close the gap as the Falcons won 70 to 45.
Sophomore Chris Gore (Myrtle Beach, SC, Myrtle Beach High School) earned his second consecutive “double-double” with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the losing effort for the Fleet.  Junior Filip Pejovic (Prijepolje, Serbia, Palm Beach Atlantic University) was the other Fleet member to reach double-digits with 10 points.
Pfeiffer’s Josh Humphrey also earned a “double-double” on the night pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds.  Reggie Hollinger contributed 16 points as well.
The Fleet will take a short break for the Thanksgiving holiday before returning to action against archrival Anderson University on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
