Gaffney, SC – The Erskine lost on the road to Limestone 3 to 1 in Conference Carolinas women’s soccer action. The Flying Fleet drop to 4-10 overall and 2-5 in conference while the Saints even their record at 6-6-1 overall and 4-3 in conference.
The first goal of the game came in the 30th minute when Limestone’s Vanessa Jarrett blasted a shot at point-blank range that deflected off Erskine goalkeeper Si'Ara Washington (Mt. Pleasant, SC, Academic Magnet High School) into the goal. It was Jarrett’s seventh goal of the season.
Limestone made it 2-0 in the 60th minute on an Erskine miscue. Saint’s Madi Dulisse intercepted an Erskine pass and raced down an open field to score the game’s second goal.
The Fleet kept the game interesting when Casey Craft (Anderson, SC, T.L. Hanna High School) slipped around the Limestone defense and placed a nice shot in the upper left shelf to bring the Fleet within one at the 73 minute mark.
Unfortunately, the Saints put the game away just a few minutes later. Alexandria Savage-Davis split the Erskine defense and hit a perfect shot over the goalkeeper to give the Saints the 3 to 1 victory.
Limestone outshot the Fleet 17-7.
The Fleet travel this Saturday to Hartsville, South Carolina, to play Coker College. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
