Lady Fleet Coast Past Bobcats

Due West, SC- Erskine women's basketball cruised past Conference Carolinas foe Lees-McRae 70-62 Thursday evening.  With the win, the Fleet improve to 4-4 overall and 3-1 among conference opponents.

Erskine got off to a sluggish start as they tried to get a feel for the visiting Bobcats.  But the Fleet soon took control at the 16:27 mark as they went on a 6-0 run, going up 10-4 and never looking back.  The Fleet continued pushing the pace and built a 15 point lead (32-17) late in the first half and took a 13 point advantage into the break (34-21).

Erskine blew the game open during the first 4 minutes of the second half as they quickly built a 49-26 lead.  The Fleet cruised through the remainder of the second half for the 70-62 victory.

Although Lees-McRae held a 47-37 rebounding advantage over the Fleet, they were plagued offensively with 38 turnovers.

Erskine senior Audrey Timmerman led the Fleet as she hit 8/14 from the field for 20 points on the evening.  Timmerman also pulled down a team high 7 rebounds.  Sophomore point guard Porsha Morgan added 19 points and 4 assists to the winning effort while Mary Ann Langford contributed 13
points of her own.

Lees-McRae's Colette Montgomery led all scorers and posted the only double-double of the evening with 20 points and 15 rebounds.  Icey Patterson was the only other Bobcat to reach double digits with 10
points.

Erskine returns to action on Saturday afternoon as they host Conference Carolinas opponent Saint Andrews at 2:00 PM.
