Fleet lose 62 to 53 to Limestone College

Wright scores 28 in losing effort

Due West, SC - Brandon Wright (Goose Creek, SC/Goose Creek H.S.) scored a game-high 28 points but it was not enough as the Fleet lost to Limestone 62 to 53 at Belk Arena.  

Senior guard Brandon Wright gave the Fleet an early 9 to 3 lead when he made his third basket on the night on a baseline reserve layup.  Unfortunately, the Fleet offense would struggle to find a rhythm the reminder of the first half allowing Limestone to take a 38 to 21 lead into halftime.

The Saints would lengthen their lead out to 21 points at the start of the second half behind two quick baskets.   Erskine would limit Limestone to just 8 points over the next 10 minutes to trim the Saint lead to to nine points.  While the defense continued to stymie the Saint attack, offensively Erskine failed to cut into the Saint lead.  Limestone would hold onto to their lead to win 62 to 53.

Erskine shot 49% from the field (13 of 27) but was just 5 of 23 (22%) from 3 point range.  Limestone only shot 37% from the field but did convert 10 of 27 (37%) from 3 point range.  In addition, Limestone was able to score 11 2nd chance points on a 46 to 24 rebounding advantage.  Besides Brandon Wright, no other Fleet player scored in double figures.  Limestone was led by Tryon Evans with 20 points and Anthony Middleton also contributed 10 points.

Erskine now stands at 2-5 (0-3) while Limestone improves to 6-2 (2-1) on the season.  The Fleet continue their home-stand against Lees-McRae College on Thursday.  Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
