DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College women's soccer team (0-1) was defeated by Mars Hill University (1-0) by a score of 1-0 at Ralph Lundy Field on Saturday afternoon in the Fleet's 2026 season opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In an entertaining first half filled with chances,
Jordan Schuhlein's 7th-minute effort was the first threat of the match for either side, but her attempt at finding the bottom left corner was saved by the Lions goalkeeper. Freshman
Alexa Harrison had consecutive on-target attempts in the 31st and 33rd minutes that were both saved as well to keep the match scoreless. However, Mars Hill were the ones to first take advantage of a goal-scoring chance with a well-taken goal in the 43rd minute. Fleet goalkeeper
Valentina Santana made five saves in the second half to keep Erskine within a goal but the Fleet were unable to find an equalizer, falling narrowly in their season opener.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine starts a quick two-match road trip with a visit to Newberry College (0-0-1) on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
