DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine Baseball program announced the addition of David Berger as an assistant coach on Friday.

Berger, who had an extremely successful collegiate career as a pitcher at Lynn University, located in Boca Raton, Fla., has been deeply involved in the hospitality and economic development industry in Greenville, S.C. for more than two decades.

"The opportunity to join the Erskine Baseball program is one of the great honors of my professional career," Berger said. "I look forward to serving our student-athletes, helping elevate the program both on and off the field, and working alongside this talented staff."

Berger is among the single-season and career record holders in several pitching stats (wins, complete games, shutouts, innings pitched, appearances, games started) during his two seasons with the Fighting Knights.

Shortly after, Berger found another calling in the hospitality field, and he has a career deeply rooted in community-driven growth. Berger previously served as COO and Partner at Hospitality America, following executive roles at major hotel brands, including Marriott and Hilton.

"What excites me the most is the opportunity to embrace The Fleet Way and help develop young men who exemplify Erskine's commitment to character, competency, and commitment to Christ," Berger said. "The lessons learned through this game — leadership, discipline, perseverance, faith and teamwork — will impact them long after their playing days are over."

Starting in 2023, Berger has been using his company, Community Hub LLC, to play a part in the revitalization of local main streets within the submarkets within Greenville. Community Hub focuses on bringing locally owned hospitality developments to Greenville County area to help generate community-benefitted economic growth.

In 2020, Berger received Lynn University's Distinguished Alumni Award, a prestigious honor presented to graduates who have achieved outstanding success in their chosen careers and made a significant positive difference in society.

"We are very excited to be adding David to the staff. His wealth of knowledge and experience both on the field and in the business world will be a difference-making addition to Erskine Baseball," Erskine Co-Head Coach Scotty Bateman said.

Berger joins a Flying Fleet program looking to continue to build on the improvements from 2026, where the Fleet saw an eight-win overall improvement and won 12 more games in Conference Carolinas, one of the premier conferences in Division II baseball.

Erskine Baseball also underwent numerous capital improvements to its home facility, Grier Field, which added a videoboard behind the left field fence, a new halo, batters' eye, stereo speakers, dugout railings, bat/helmet rack in the home dugout, a resurfaced infield, and the installation of Trackman software.

Berger resides in Simpsonville, S.C. with his wife of 24 years, Kristine, and a 19-year-old daughter who attends the University of South Carolina and a 16-year-old son who attends Southside Christian School.
