HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Southern Wesleyan 5-1 Erskine
Just 24 hours removed from a historic day, the Fleet were right back in action for a tall test against Southern Wesleyan, who started the afternoon hot, scoring runs in each of its first three innings at the plate to take an early 4-0 lead. That scoreline remained until the seventh, when SWU added another run to its lead. The Fleet offense came alive in the bottom half of the final frame, starting with a leadoff home run from
Gabby Burroughs, and a
Kennedy Crouch base hit followed by a walk from
Kara West started to put some game pressure on the Warriors, but Erskine could not get any closer in the opener.
Game 2: Southern Wesleyan 15-0 Erskine (Final / 5 innings)
The back half of the doubleheader was controlled by the visiting Warriors from start to finish, with SWU scoring in each of first four innings offensively, including big innings in the third and fourth, while the Erskine offense was held in check by a trio of SWU pitchers.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine and Southern Wesleyan will meet again, this time in Central on Wednesday at 2 and 4 p.m.
