DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College softball team (3-13, 1-1 CC) was defeated by Anderson University (13-3) in both games of a doubleheader at the Erskine Softball Complex on Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Anderson 6-1 Erskine
After a walk and a single to open the second inning, a wild pitch a few batters later allowed Mattie Hinson's to score the game's first run. However, the Trojans responded with five runs in the next half-inning and that proved to be the difference.

Game 2: Anderson 6-2 Erskine
In the second game, Anderson opened the scoring in the first inning, but starting pitcher Kinsley Kay settled in to keep the Fleet within a run until Erskine broke through in the fourth. A Gabby Burroughs RBI single tied the game and then the Fleet manufactured another run to take the lead, thanks to a bases-loaded walk drawn by Ellie Rapson that scored Ava Rogers. That 2-1 scoreline held up all the way until the seventh, when the Trojans used timely hits to go back in front and edge the Fleet in the final frame.

Erskine visits Young Harris College (9-11, 1-1 CC) on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
