HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: North Greenville 7-3 Erskine (Final / 7 innings)
After rain wiped out the games on Friday and moved the conclusion of the series to Tigerville,
Chase Grube delivered a strong start on the mound for the Fleet to begin the day. But, NGU pitching held the Fleet offense in check and the Trailblazers offense posted consecutive three-run frames in the fifth and sixth to put the Fleet in a sizeable deficit. Trailing 7-0 in their final at-bat,
Drew Potts' two-run single and
Danny Villafane's RBI single made the final moments of the opener interesting, but Erskine could not get the tying run to the plate.
Game 2: North Greenville 12-1 Erskine
Similar to the series opener on Thursday, the NGU offense roared to life early in the finale, scoring in each of its first four innings at the plate. A fielding error in the sixth allowed
Carson Yates to score to get the Fleet on the board but the early deficit proved to be the difference.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine visits USC Beaufort (3-9, 0-6 PBC) on Tuesday at 3 p.m. to begin a double-midweek for the Fleet, who will come back and host Lander on Wednesday.
