HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Lander 12-8 Erskine

After the hosts put up a three-spot in their first at-bat, Erskine settled in and began clawing their way back in the middle frames. A Mason McManus RBI single in the fourth inning got the Fleet on the board, and then newcomer Drew Potts delivered a game-tying two-run single in the 5th to level the contest at three at the halfway point. However, the Bearcats regained their lead with a four-run bottom of the fifth. Again though, the Fleet answered back in the next frame, this time via run-scoring hits from Jacob Lott and Elliott Sanders to get Erskine back within a run, 7-6. But, another four-run inning from Lander would prove to be the difference as the Fleet were unable to keep up in a high-scoring season opener.

Game 2: Lander 10-4 Erskine
The first inning bit the Fleet again in Game 2 and Erskine was forced to play from behind throughout the back half of the doubleheader. Mason McManus got the Fleet on the board again with an RBI single to make it 3-1, but the Bearcats extended it to 6-1 after the fifth. Jacob Platt's RBI single in the sixth and a Pierce Radke two-run double in the ninth accounted for the last three Erskine runs.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine and Lander finish their weekend series to begin the year with a contest at Grier Field on Monday at 1 p.m.
