DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College men's volleyball team (1-0) defeated Newberry College (0-1) in straight sets in the Fleet's 2026 season opener at Belk Arena on Tuesday evening.

The Fleet came flying out of the gates, hitting a scintillating .500 in the opening set, and a balanced effort (10 different players tallied a kill) helped Erskine to a sweep to begin the year.

THE PLAYER
The Fleet were led by the return of junior outside hitter True Bauer, who totaled a match-high 10 kills on an impressive .474 hitting percentage in the match. After missing the final two months of last season due to injury, Bauer picked up right where he left off, filling the stat sheet, as he added in three digs, two assists, an ace, and a block.

THE TEAM
Erskine hit a resounding .357 (40 K / 10 E / 84 TA) for the match, while holding Newberry to just a .070 hitting percentage. The Fleet also had a 6 to 1 edge in aces.

WHAT'S NEXT? 
Erskine goes on the road this weekend, starting with a trip to Tusculum University (0-1) on Friday at 6 p.m.
