DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College women's volleyball team (2-8, 1-2 CC) defeated Barton College (3-6, 0-3 CC) in four sets at Belk Arena on Saturday afternoon.
After a heartbreaking loss on Friday night, the Fleet responded superbly with a convincing four-set win for their first conference win of the season.
Becca Yohe and
Ali Angell led the way for Erskine, tallying 18 and 16 kills, while
Meghan DeWalt (30 assists, 11 digs) added a double-double, and libero
MJ Hurd capped an outstanding weekend with another career-high 28 digs.

THE PLAYER
Junior libero
MJ Hurd totaled a career-high 24 digs on Friday night, and then followed it up by setting a new career-best on Saturday with 28 digs in just four sets. Hurd also dished out six assists from her libero spot as well as an ace and a kill to help the lead the Fleet to a win.
THE TEAM
Erskine hit .207 (51Â K / 20 E / 150 A) for the match, and held the Bulldogs to just a .110 hitting percentage. The Fleet defense was excellent in particular in the final two sets, as Barton managed just a .065 hitting percentage, which fueled Erskine to the win.
