DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College women's volleyball team (1-8, 0-2 CC) was defeated by Chowan University (2-8, 1-1 CC) in five sets at Belk Arena on Friday evening.

Erskine and Chowan battled toe-to-toe throughout the night, with the Fleet using convincing runs in sets 1 and 3 to take control of the match. The Fleet had three match points in set 4 and another set 5 but could not put away the Hawks.

THE TEAM
Erskine hit a respectable .211 (59 K / 21 E / 180 A) for the match, while holding the Hawks to just a .163 hitting percentage. The Fleet held a decided advantage in aces, 13 to 3, and blocks, 7 to 3, but were undone by 17 service errors.

Erskine has a quick turnaround as the Fleet welcome in Barton College (3-5, 0-2 CC) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
